Changing Engine Oil of Std 350...

1.      Remove the oil cap
2.      Check level and oil consistency
3.      If oil is too dark with lot of slug or when you pinch the oil, if it breaks without sticking you can choose to change oil or you can change oil every 2500Km
4.      Keep a tray under the engine to collect oil
5.      Remove or loosen this nut ( oil feed plug )
6.      Use a 21mm spanner and rotate anti clock wise

7.      You can decide to leave it loose instead of removing it
8.      I choose to remove and clean thoroughly
9.      Under the engine there will be two strainer plug bolts. 18mm spanner would be required
10.  Second strainer plug bolt
11.  This is the sump drain bolt, in post 70s engines, this is at the bottom of the engine located at the back.
12.  Oil will start draining out as soon as you remove the sump drain bolts at the bottom or side.

13.  Press the decompressor
14.  And pump the kick start lever to get as much old oil out as you can
15.  Remove the oil filter cap nut
16.  In some older models as mine the oil filter can have a through stud
17.  Remove the entire filter assembly

18.  Now you can see the old oil filter stuck on to the walls of the filter container
19.  Use a screw driver or finger to pull it out
20.  There comes the old dirty filter
21.  Pull it out
22.  Some people decide to clean and reuse.
23.  You can choose to take a tea break and leave the motorcycle as is now so all the oil drains out. 10 - 15 mins break would be sufficient
24.  Clean engine surfaces and all other nuts bolts etc.

25.  Preferably go for a new oil filter, it is only 21 INR ~ 0.38 USD. Immerse in new oil before installation.
26.  Push in the new oil filter. Easier and better to install after immersion in new oil.
27.  Push it through
28.  Recommended to dip the filter in oil before installation
29.  Close the cleaned feed bolt. While tightening bolts always try to use your hands to make all the threads seat in and only use spanner or tools to torque it.
30.  Tighten the bolt using a 21mm spanner and rotating clockwise.

31.  Reassemble the oil filter assembly
32.  Tighten with 16mm spanner rotating clockwise.
33.  This is an old model motorcycle which has a nut at the backend of the oil filter assembly tighten that as well if you have this.
34.  Close the strainer plug bolts. 18mm spanner required. (A bit of warning while tightening bolts, please tighten fully with hand and then use only 1/4 to 1/2 turn with a spanner.)
35.  Close the bottom strainer plug bolts. 18mm spanner again. (A bit of warning while tightening bolts, please tighten fully with hand and then use only 1/4 to 1/2 turn or until it resists with spanner.)

36.  Cleaned and tightened bottom strainer bolt. (A bit of warning while tightening bolts, please tighten fully with hand and then use only 1/4 to 1/2 turn or until it resists with a spanner.)
37.  Now we are ready to pour new oil
38.  Use any brand SAE 20W50 oil approx 1.5 Litres
39.  Use a funnel for avoiding spillage and easy fluid flow into the engine
40.  Pour in slowly
41.  Clean dip stick and then dip until cap sits tight.
42.  Remove and check oil level, top up if required. You should be within the HI ~ LO mark, in some newer motorcycles there is a knurled pattern on the dip stick. Level should not exceed pattern.
43.  Close lid and tighten
44.  Check all nuts and bolts for tightness. In this case you do not need to go for a test drive. But if you wish to, wear a helmet. No matter how small the spin is.
