Royal Enfield service tips...

Getting Bike serviced every 3K KM is must , use 20w50 engine oil. I have experimented with many oils and found out any 20w50 works best, no use throwing the money. save it for rest of modifications.

I will advise to download the manual and make a checklist of what all needed to be checked and fixed at 3k service. Mechanic usually dont do all the things and are done with Engine oil change, Air filter cleaning/replacement and chain lubing (No carb tuning/Electrical parts inspection/shockers check)

Few good habits to pick while maintaining your Royal Enfield

-Check Engine oil level before every ride.
-Clean the bike before every ride with a cloth. move around the bike and see if anything is broken/ rubbers going bad/ wires showing signs of aging.
-Lube chain every 500 kms. normal engine oil should do just fine, Chain lube is better though
- if you can , Lube all wires every month or every 1k of riding, increases life of wires. Clutch/Acceleration/Front brake/Decompressor wire (also keep spare of Clutch wire)
- keep eye on wearing of front and rear brake shoes. might have to adjust them every now and then
- keep both tyres inflated to correct pressure 25/35 or as mentioned on tyre.

Always buy original spares, dont go for cheap spares lying with Mechanic. All Rubber/ wires etc should be procured from Enfield showroom.

There is a very good Manual by Hitchcock, get a copy of that. it is very comprehensive and has lot of information on how Enfield works, details of all parts and how to service it yourself
